Kisan Gothi organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kodermaon 26th December 2020

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Koderma organized kisan gosthi cum exhibition at Chopnadih village on 26.12.2020 under the project: ‘National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture’ (NICRA) to create awareness among farmers about climate change, its impact on Agriculture and Animal husbandry sector. The programme was graced by the honorable minister of Agriculture, animal husbandry and co-operative, Government of Jharkhand, Shri Badal Patralekh as chief guest. MLA (Barhi), Shri Umashankar Akela and officers from line department were also present to share their experience with farmers. The programme started with the felicitation to honorable agriculture minister and all the guests by Director, ICAR-NRRI, Dr. Dipankar Maiti. In his welcome address Dr Maiti deliberated the information about objective activities and need of the NICRA project. He also told that KVK, Koderma, caters the needs of farmers through providing quality seed of different drought tolerant crop including vegetables and fodder; improved breed of poultry, duck and goats. Dr. S. Shekhar, PI, NICRA, who coordinated the whole program, briefed about the activities conducted under the project. The chief guest of the program, honorable agriculture minister, appreciated the work done under NICRA project. He stressed upon the rain water harvesting system developed in the village, water use efficient and in situ moisture conservation technologies demonstrated under the project, which have been up-scaled within the farmers and urged the farmers of the surrounding villages to take advantages of the program. The chief guest also distributed Mango saplings and improved vegetable seeds to 50 farmers and farm women. A few beneficiaries of the project also shared their experience and benefits gains from the project. In the program, 578 farmers and livestock owners participated. In the exhibition 30 farmers and poultry keepers put their stall and showcased their produce which was coordinate by Dr. B. Singh, SMS (Horticulture). The program ended with formal vote of thanks proposed by Dr. C. Kumari, SMS (Home Sci.) and in-charge KVK-Koderma.
