National Productivity Week – 2019 celebrated at ICAR-NRRI

The ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack celebrated National Productivity Week – 2019 from 12th – 18th February 2019. On this occasion an Awareness programme on 13th February 2019 on the theme “Circular Economy for Productivity and Sustainability” was organized in the institute premises. The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp and invocation of ICAR songs. Er. Roshan Kujur Dy Director, Regional Directorate of National Productivity Council, Bhubaneswar delivered a special lecture on the theme of NPW -2019. Speaking on this occasion, Er. Kujur explained the difference of linear economy and circular economy. In his deliberation, he illustrated that the linear economy works according to the ‘take-make-dispose’ step plan whereas circular economy works on ‘make-use-return’ step plan. The awareness programme was presided over by Dr. A K Nayak Director-in-charge and enlightened the audience with emphasis on adopting the plans of circular economy in daily life. He also stressed on the effective implementation of circular economy plan in the institute premises to make the institute a green economy-based institute. Dr. S D Mohapatra, Chairman, National Productivity Week Celebration Committee – 2019 (NPWCC-2019) welcomed the guest and all the dignitaries and highlighted the principle of circular economy and emphasized to adopt 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) to achieve green economy. Dr Nabaneeta Basak coordinated the programme and the programme was ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr Rahul Tripathi.
