National Integration Week – 2017 observed by ICAR-NRRI 

The ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack observed National Integration Week from 19th – 25th November 2017 to foster and reinforce the spirit of Communal Harmony, National Integration, secularism and pride in our vibrant composite culture & nationhood.  The celebration of the week started with the National Integration Pledge. During whole week of celebration, various programmeswere held related to the specific theme. Some of the programs like meetings, quizzes, creating awareness through video clips, open-forum discussion were held to highlight the themes of National Integration Week.

Women’s Day as a theme was observed in the institute premises. On this occasion, Dr. H Pathak, Director of the Institute greeted all the women employee of the institute. Speaking on this occasion, Dr Pathak highlighted the importance of Women in Indian Society and their role in development of nation-building.Staff of the institute actively participated in quizzes, discussions and also committed to maintain and preserve the national unity and integrity of the country. The National Flag Day was also observed on the same day. Dr (Mrs.) Meera K Kar, Principal Scientist & Chairperson (I/C) coordinated the Women’s Day event.

Valedictory function of the National Integration Week was chaired by Dr. H Pathak, Director, NRRI. At the outset, Dr S D Mohapatra, Principal Scientist & Chairman of the Committee welcomed the Director and all staff of the institute and briefed about the events organized on the National Integration Week – 2017 by the institute. As a part of Conservation Day celebration, awareness was created through video clips on “Agriculture and Sustainable Development Goals”, “Transitioning from the MDGs to the SDGs”, The Quint Where Does India Stand on The UN Sustainable Development Goal”, “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” and “Eco-tourism”. Besides, an open forum discussion was made on the e-office with minimal use of paper, effective disposal of waste materials and making the Institute as a Green Campus. The programme was ended with the remarks of Director and a formal vote of thanks by Mr B K Sahoo, Administrative Officer. Mr. N K Swain, Asstt. Administrative Officer and member of the committee also cooperated to make the function a grand success.
