Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign 2018” from 15-09-2018 to 02-10-2018 observed at ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack

“Swachhta Hi Sewa Pakhwada-2018” was organized by Institute Swachh Bharat Committeefrom 15th September to 2nd October, 2018 at ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack, Odisha. During the period, various activities were undertaken inside the NRRI premises as well as at adopted village. Inaugural function for observation of ‘Swacchata Hi SewaPakhwada- 2018’ was heldon 14.09.18 with garlanding of the statues of Gandhiji, Netaji and Nehruji at the main entrance of the Institute by Dr. H. Pathak, Director and other dignitaries.In the subsequent program, the Director stressed on the importance of observation of “Swachhta Hi Sewa Programme 2018” and delivered a talk on “What we have to learn from Mahatma Gandhiji”.On 15.09.18 at 3.00 PM, awareness talk on “Keeping our surroundings clean and maintaining proper hygiene in our day to day activities” was delivered by Dr. J. Pani, Medical Officer, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttackfollowed by an interaction session with the wards of NRRI staff members. NRRI Ladies Club President, Secretary and members were invited for the program, who actively participated in the interaction session for maintaining better cleanliness in the campus.

On 17.09.18, anessay writing competition on “Role of children in Swachh Bharat Mission”(in English)and “Swachh Bharat programmarasaphalatarepilamanankarayogadan” (in Odia) was organized by involving the students of CRRI High School.On 18.09.18, one “Plantation and Cleaning drive” was held in the premises of Agriculture Engineering Section in collaboration with Institute Campus Development Committee in which all the staff members actively participated.From 20.09.18 to 28.09.18, cleaning drive in all the Divisions and Sections including NetHouses, Laboratories, Workshops and Lavatories were undertaken by the respective Heads of the Divisions.

On 22.09.18, Swachhata Awareness program was conducted at the NRRI adopted village. One hundred fifty villagers from Satyabhamapur andadjoining villages participated in the programme, in which the dignitaries and officials from the institute interacted with the villagers and stressed on the cleanliness of the village surroundings and cropped fields. Cleanliness drive was undertaken in the premises of Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust in the village and the village road.On 29.09.18, a cleaning drive was organized in the premises of NRRI Recreation Club,in which all the staff members of the Institute participated.

On 2.10.2018, ‘Observation of the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhiji’ and ‘Shramdan’ for cleaning drive inside institute premises was organized.A grand ceremony for observation of the 150thbirth anniversary of Gandhiji was organized that started with the vision of Mahatma Gandhi to keep surroundings clean. A plantation drive and cleanliness drive were undertaken in the institute premises followed by valedictory function of the ‘Swacchata Hi SewaPakhwada- 2018’ chaired by the Director of the Institute and in the presence of invited guests,students and large participation of  staff members of the Institute.
