Harmony in Agriculture: Exploring the Biodiversity of NRRI’s Farmland
NRRI’s farmland represents a thriving ecosystem teeming with biodiversity and ecological vitality. Embracing a mosaic of rice paddies wetland systems, including irrigated rice-rice and aerobic rice, alongside non-rice cropping systems, natural ponds, and integrated farming practices, the landscape epitomizes the harmonious coexistence of agriculture and nature inside the campus. The presence of natural undisturbed wetlands, adorned with a tapestry of trees, shrubs, and herbs, underscores the commitment for preserving ecological integrity and fostering sustainable land management practices. This biodiverse haven serves as a sanctuary for a myriad of biological entities, from birds and insects to fish, reptiles, and rodents. Through its intricate web of interconnected ecosystems, ICAR-NRRI’s farmland not only sustains agricultural productivity but also nurtures the delicate balance between human activities and the natural world, embodying a holistic approach to land stewardship and biodiversity conservation.
