NASF-Funded Workshop on TechSIM inaugurated at ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack

The inaugural function of the NASF-funded project, launching national workshop “Developing Simulation Model of Technology Diffusion (TechSIM), Adoption, and Impact for Forecasting Using Techno-Socio-Psycho-Economic-Ecological Factors” was held at ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack, on September 30 2024 in a hybrid mode with a total of 225 participants. In the inaugural session, Dr. G.A.K. Kumar, Head, SSD and Course Director of the workshop briefed about incorporating social simulation techniques like Discrete Event Modeling (DIM), Agent-Based Modeling (ABM), and System Dynamics Modeling (SDM) into agricultural extension research for enhancing understanding of complex systems, supporting scenario analysis, and improving decision-making. He also added that these models integrate multidimensional factors, optimize strategies, engage stakeholders, and help forecast impacts. Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack presided over the function and motivated the participants with his encouraging remarks on identifying, measuring, and analysing the social simulation factors ranging from social, psychological, economic to ecological. The workshop aimed at enhancing the understanding of the stages of adoption and the broader impact of technological innovation. The event focused on creating a robust framework for simulating the adoption and diffusion of technology, emphasizing the complex interactions of various multidimensional factors. At the outset, Dr. B. Mondal, Pr. Scientist, welcomed all the participants and Dr. N.N. Jambhulkar, Sr. Scientist, SSD offered the formal vote of thanks. Dr. S. Paul, Sr. Scientist, SSD coordinated the inaugural function.
