Report of G20 on 20th April, 2023 at ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack
The third meeting of G20 Education Working Group (G20 EWG) 2023 on the theme ‘Future of Work’ will be held in Bhubaneswar from the coming 27th to 29th of this month with the participation of delegates of G20 nations. In Odisha, several events and activities marked the day as part of the G20 Education Working Group Meeting under the ‘Jan Bhagidari’ programme. Our institute is one of the Stand Alone (SI) institute among 25 institutes in Odisha state. In this context the institute is organizing different activities from 1-22 April, 2023. ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack organized a mega-event on 20 April 2023 under which a Human Chain was formed and Jan Bhagidari run was conducted in the NRRI playground during morning. During afternoon, a webinar was organized and Dr. V.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad delivered a lecture on ‘Indian & Western Farming Style’, which was attended by about 150 staff, scholars and students. Dr. Singh discussed on food production and productivity of major crops in different countries, emerging technologies, opportunities for income and livelihood improvement. A special talk on ‘Technical Transformation in Making Indian Agriculture Resilient’ was delivered by Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack and deliberated on climate change-biotic/abiotic stress, climate-smart-agriculture, enhancing resilience through climate risk management, improved nutrient management in rice, etc. A yoga session was also organized in the evening in which about 30 staff from different Divisions/ sections participated. Dr. N.N. Jambhulkar coordinated the programme under the guidance of Dr. B. Mondal, Head, Social Science Division.
