World Environment Day 2023
On the occasion of World Environment Day, as directed by Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare the ICAR-National Rice Research Institute is going to organize a week long campaign to promote awareness on Climate Resilient & Smart Agriculture. In this context, Prof. Dillip Kumar Swain, Professor, Agronomy (Agricultural Systems & Management), Agricultural and Food Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur delivered a lecture on “Climate Smart Agriculture in Eastern India prospective” in virtual mode on 23 May 2023 which was attended by about 60 staff, scholars and students. Prof. Swain discussed on climate smart agricultural practices under changing climatic scenario, sustainable development goals, Global Hunger Index, Pesticide levels in human population, smart agricultural practices to mitigate Global warming potential, Modelling approaches in agricultural system, etc.
