Workshop on Towards Renewable energy based Technologies in Rice based farming

In a bid to revolutionize rice farming practices and promote sustainability, a workshop on “Towards Renewable energy based technologies in rice based farming’’ was organized by ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack in collaboration with SELCO Foundation on 10 May 2024. The workshop aimed to explore innovative solutions to enhance the sustainability of rice cultivation and processing. Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director of the National Rice Research Institute (NRRI), Cuttack presided over the programme and gave his remarks regarding design & development of solar models in collaboration with SELCO Foundation for efficient technology dissemination to various stakeholders. Additionally, providing training & capacity building activities to train the clean energy entrepreneurs, so that we move towards a sustainable future. Shri Gautam Kumar Pradhan, Regional Head, SELCO Foundation deliberated on solar energy, aligning the discussions with Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7). He emphasized that through harnessing solar power, more avenues can be explored to enhance energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and improve the livelihoods of rice farmers. Dr. S.D. Mohapatra, Head, Crop Protection Division presented the NRRI achievements and aspirations regarding renewable energy and Dr. P.C. Jena, Sr. Scientist offered vote of thanks. Dr Basana Gowda G and Dr. Supriya Priyadarsani, Scientists coordinated the programme.
