Vigilance Awareness Week-2024: Promoting Integrity and Transparency for a Better Tomorrow

ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack observed Vigilance Awareness Week from 28th October to 3th November 2024 with the theme “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity” (सत्यनिष्ठा की संस्कृति से राष्ट्र की समृद्धि). In the inaugural ceremony, Dr. M.J. Baig, Director (I/c), NRRI, Cuttack administered the pledge to uphold values of transparency and truthfulness. The National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) was observed on 31st October to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Ballavbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India by taking Unity pledge. Various activities like essay writing, debate and quiz competitions in English, Hindi and Odia were taken up during the week. Altogether 40 participants from scientific, technical, administration and students participated in the competitions. A community outreach Gram Sabha, along with a vibrant Rangoli competition was held on 30 October 2024 at Agrahat, Tangi in collaboration with KVK, Cuttack, spreading vigilance awareness to the grassroots level. On November 4, 2024, Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director of ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack, gave an insightful talk on “Corruption in Research Institution: Mitigation Options’’ emphasizing the importance of integrity, transparency and accountability within organizations. He outlined various strategies to combat unethical practices, including enhancing transparency, strengthening oversight mechanisms, and fostering a culture of accountability within research institutions. The closing ceremony on November 4th, 2024 was held in the presence of ACP Shri Swastik Panda, OPS, Cuttack, as Chief Guest, who delivered an insightful speech on preventive vigilance measures, emphasizing the importance of proactive steps in fostering a transparent and ethical society. The results of various competitions were declared and prizes were distributed during the valedictory function under the chairmanship of Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, NRRI, Cuttack and the event was co-chaired by. Dr. P.C. Rath, Vigilance Officer, ICAR-NRRI and the Organizing Secretary of the week-long event.
