Training Program on “Clean Milk Production”
KVK Cuttack organized three one-day training programs for 75 no. of dairy farmers, farmwomen, rural youth and grassroot level extension functionaries on ‘Clean milk production’ at Kandarkana, Harianta and KVK campus on January 20, 23 & 25, 2022. Dr Ranjan Kumar Mohanta, SMS (Animal Science), the training coordinator discussed in details about different aspects of production of clean and wholesome milk, like how to select a good cow, how to milk the cows and necessary management procedures to get the best quality milk. How breeds of cattle, their selection, housing, feeding, breeding, disease and general management skills help in optimization of quality milk production was discussed in details. As lumpy skin disease is currently prevalent in these areas, its cause, symptoms, prevention and treatment aspects were also emphasized in the training program and a technical bulletin was distributed among the participants. The importance of availing free vaccination for lumpy skin disease and use of traditional and local preparations for treating the disease was discussed in detail. In addition, queries related to animal husbandry sector were answered and some cases were treated.
