Training cum Demonstration on CRRI biofertilizer model to farming community of Odisha was organized at Purijena village of Jagatsinghpur District under the project Jaivaposhak (ଜୈବ-ପୋଷକ) on 31.01.2025. Dr. Upendra Kumar, is the Principal Investigator of this innovative project. This innovative project is funded by Department of Agriculture Farmers Welfare (DAFE), Govt. of Odisha with emphasis on popularisation of eco-friendly biofertilizers among farmers to replace harmful chemical fertilizers which pose severe threats to environment and gradually deteriorates the soil health. This program was coordinated by Dr. Annie Poonam, Principal Scientist & Dr. Dibyendu Chatterjee, Senior Scientist from ICAR-CRRI, Cuttack. External resource persons Dr. Debasis Panda, Scientist from KVK-Jagatsinghpur & Mr. Bansidhar Acharya, Scientific Officer from State Seed Corporation were also present. Dr. Annie Poonam emphasized on Jaiva Poshak project & integrated farming system (IFS) model to improve the revenue of the farmers. Dr. Dibyendu Chatterjee, explained the benefits of using biofertilizer, Endo-N to replace harmful chemical fertilizers. Dr. Debasis Panda has elaborated on the importance of Trichoderma as biofertilizer in vegetable crops and demonstrated the use of insect traps in rice and vegetable crops. An advantage of NRRI-Tech Decomposer was explained to the farmers by Dr. Sai Krishna Repalli, Research Associate of the project followed by practical demonstration in rice straw. Sri Akshaya Moharana, Technical Officer along with the project staff have facilitated the program, where a total number of 78 farmers have participated and benefitted from this program.
