Training cum Demonstration on CRRI biofertilizer model to farming community of Odisha was organized at Badakumari village of Umerkote block, Nabarangpur District under the project Jaiva-poshak (ଜୈବ-ପୋଷକ) on 11.02.2025. Dr. Upendra Kumar is the Principal Investigator of this innovative project. This innovative project was funded by Department of Agriculture Farmers Welfare (DAFE), Govt. of Odisha with emphasis on popularisation of eco-friendly biofertilizers among farmers to replace harmful chemical fertilizers which pose severe threats to environment and gradually deteriorates soil health. Dr. Biswajit Mondal emphasized on Jaiva-Poshak (ଜୈବ-ପୋଷକ) project & economic aspects of biofertilizers. Dr. Upendra Kumar, Senior Scientist has demonstrated the use of NRRI biofertilizers i.e; NRRI EndoN & NRRI EndoNPK which can compensate 25% use of chemical fertilizers thereby decreasing input costs for farmers without compromising yield & safeguarding soil health followed by environmental protection. Advantages of NRRI-Tech Decomposer were explained to the farmers which was followed by practical demonstration of one ton rice straw which can be decomposed into around 450 kg of compost in a period of 45 days by application of 10 Kg cow dung, 5 Kg urea & 1Kg NRRI-Tech Decomposer which enhances plant nutrition, improves soil organic carbon, and over all soil health for the next crop; A wealth from waste approach to improve farmers income. External Resource person, Dr. Sashank Lenka Senior Scientist & Head from KVK Nabarangpur were also present in the program and elaborated on the importance of Trichoderma as biofertilizer in vegetable crops.
