Skill Development Programme of SC beneficiaries through Value addition of Rice and its by-products
A skill development training on scientific technologies utilized for value addition of rice by-products was organized during 11th -18th March, 2024 at ICAR-National Rice Research Institute (NRRI). Farmwomen from Badamaha, Kadingia and Gamerika, Raikia block of Kandhamal district participated in the programme which included demonstration of state-of-art technology for preparing value added products like rice mixed sattu powder, rice mushroom badi, rice papad, rice bran flakes, rice bran fortified torttila chips, fish feed, brown rice papad, mushroom papad, rice husk based fuel balls, rice by product based incense sticks, straw based trays, etc. Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack chaired the valedictory function. The programme was also attended by Heads of the Divisions, training directors Dr. P.C. Jena & Dr. Supriya Priyadarsani, project staffs and others. The training programme focused on the use of rice and its by-products (husk and bran) for producing market acceptable food and other products. Demonstration of solar powered thresher, cooker, solar dryer, husk stove were also done to educate the participants and provide complete process flow machinery for quality production of rice by-product based values added products to support their livelihood.
