Skill Development of Rural SC Beneficiaries on Repair & Maintaining of Farm Machinery, Irrigation and Process Equipment

An eight days skill development training program from 16 to 23 March 2024 on Repair & Maintaining of Farm Machinery, Irrigation and Process Equipment was organized successfully at ICAR-National Rice Research Institute (ICAR-NRRI). Scheduled Caste beneficiaries from Jajpur and Kandhamal district along with technical from ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack participated in this state-of-art training programme funded by ICAR-AICRP on EAAI, Bhopal. The programme was conducted successfully to demonstrated tools and techniques for repairing and routine maintenance of the tractor, power tiller, power thresher and brush cutter. Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack interacted with the participants and expressed his happiness. He emphasized to conduct more such trainings and provide technology/tools package to develop local level enterprises. The training was coordinated by Dr. P.C. Jena, Dr. Manish Debnath, Dr. Supriya Priyadarsani. The training programme engrossed on the development of the state-of-art training facility, practical oriented standard operation by experts from tractor/power tiller companies, expertise development for regular maintenance of farm power sources (tractor and power tiller), development of SOPs for operation and maintenance of the overall farm mechanization system in rice-based cropping system. The education and practical oriented approach for developing local R&M enterprises comprising of local artisans, black smiths, innovative farmers and most importantly rural youth to enhance their quality of life and support their livelihood.
