“Rice Walk and Rice Research Orientation Programme for Students” organized by ICAR-NRRI

ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack, successfully organized the captivating event “Rice Walk and Rice Research Orientation Programme for Students” on August 1, 2023. The program witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 129 students and six teachers from Stewart School, Cuttack, led by Mr. A.S. Khan, Senior Faculty, Stewart School.

The event kicked off with an engaging Rice Walk, leading the students into the institute’s experimental plots, where they got an up-close experience of various rice varieties and cultivation techniques. Subsequently, the participants had the privilege to visit the renowned Oryza Museum, where they learned about the rich history and diversity of rice in the world.

The educational aspect of the event was further enhanced as the students got the opportunity to explore the cutting-edge facilities at the institute, such as the Residue Analysis Laboratory and Quality Analysis Laboratory. This hands-on experience allowed them to witness the advanced research methods employed in analysing rice-related aspects, including residue levels and quality parameters.

The highlight of the program was a thought-provoking lecture delivered by the esteemed Director of the institute, Dr. A.K. Nayak. Through his inspiring speech, he motivated the young minds to consider pursuing Agricultural Science as a rewarding and impactful academic choice for their future education. Dr. Nayak’s insights not only enlightened the students about the significance of agricultural research but also encouraged them to contribute to the betterment of the agricultural sector.

The event was meticulously coordinated by Dr. S. Paul, a Senior Scientist from the Social Science Division. His dedication and expertise ensured the smooth execution of the entire program, leaving a lasting impression on all the participants.
