Report of Webinar on 10th April, 2023 at ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack
The third meeting of G20 Education Working Group (G20 EWG) 2023 on the theme ‘Future of Work’ will be held in Bhubaneswar from the coming 27th to 29th of this month with the participation of delegates of G20 nations. In Odisha, several events and activities marked the day as part of the G20 Education Working Group Meeting under the ‘Jan Bhagidari’ programme. Our institute is one of the Stand Alone (SI) institute among 25 institutes in Odisha state. In this context the institute is organizing different activities from 1-22 April, 2023. Under the Jan Bhagidari programme of third G20 Education Working Group Meeting, ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack organized a webinar on “Food Management Policies in India for Addressing Food Security and Containing Inflation”, which was delivered by Mr. Brijesh Kumar Patel (IES), Deputy Director, Department of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India on 10 April 2023.
In the deliberations, Shri Patel dwelled on food map, policies of cereals, pulses & onion. The key take away points from the webinar include market demand & supply situation of cereals, pulses & onion; how price mount around the world for the importing commodities that are threatening food security; ways through which domestic production, stocks, value chain & trade affect the aggregate supply of food commodities in the economy; importance of irradiation technology in increasing shelf life of food & thereby decreasing the post harvest food losses.
Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack presided over the function. Dr. J.P. Bisen coordinated the programme under the guidance of Dr. B. Mondal, Head, SSD. About 60 participants have joined the webinar. At the end, Dr. N.N. Jambhulkar offered the vote of thanks.
