Organization of Swachhta Pakhwada-2020 by ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack and its Research Stations/KVKs from 16-31 December, 2020
As per the directive of the ICAR, New Delhi and necessary instruction from the Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack, the Swachhata Pakhwada-2020 was organized by the main Institute along with its Regional Research Stations, RRLRRS, Gerua, Assam; CRURRS, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand; Krishi Vigyan Kendras at Koderma, Jharkhand and Santhapur, Cuttack during 16-31 December, 2020.All the staff members including scientists, technical staff, administrative staff, supporting staff, students/scholars and project staff joined wholeheartedly in this Swachhta Pakhwada. Some of the events of the Swachhta Pakhwada-2020 were conducted in virtual mode keeping in view of the pandemic COVID 19 situation.
The Institute Swachh Bharat Committee with the active cooperation of the staffs, students, Project staff and contractual workers and in association with the Estate Management Section, Campus Development Committee started the organization of Swachhta Pakhwada-2020 (from 16-31 December, 2021) with the Swachhta Pledge being administered by Dr. Dipankar Maiti, Director on 16.12.2020.
During the period, Swachhta cleaning drives were undertaken in different sites of the Institute, namely, Agriculture Engineering, Kishan Bhawan, INS Hostel, Guest House, Scientists’ Home and in residential Nehru Colony, Subhas Colony.
Swachhta Awareness cum-Cleaning drive and Kishan Diwas was organized in the Farmer FIRST adopted village , Ganeswarpur of Salepur (Dist.-Cuttack) on 23.12.2020 and also by CRURRS, Hazaribagh; KVK, Koderma; KVK, Cuttack in different adopted villages.
Round view of kitchen gardening developed by the residents of Subhas Colony, Mr. Arabinda Jena, Prem Pal Kumar , Arun Kumar Parida and Nehru Colony by Dr. Annie Poonam, M.Chakraborty/S.Sarkar was done by the SBC members, who have raised kitchen gardens with maintaining proper cleanliness, sanitation and utilization of compost from the compost pits developed by themselves.
Three Invited talks were delivered on 21.12.2020, 28.12.2020 and 30.12.2020 nicely by the eminent speakers, Dr. A.K. Nayak, Dr. S.K. Das and Dr. J. Pani on “Safe disposal of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste”, “Cleanliness in the present COVID 19 pandemic situation”, “Eternal cleansing-a way of happiness” respectively.
Speech competitions on “Safe disposal of agricultural waste” among the staffs of different categories, students and Project staff were organized in Odia (on 22.12.2020) and in English, Hindi languages (on 29.12.2020) and the awardees were felicitated by the Director, Dr. D. Maiti on the concluding day of the Swachhta Pakhwada-2020.
On the concluding day of Swachhta Pakhwada-2020 i.e, on 31.12.2020 at 3.00PM, Dr. D. Maiti, Director, ICAR-NRRI in his concluding remarks, congratulated all the staff members to make the Swachata Pakhwada successful, which was very efficiently coordinated by the Swachh Bharat Committee through organizing cleaning drives, invited lectures and speech competitions. Dr. D.Maiti also opined that this Pakhwada is just initiation and the Institute needs to continue through several cleaning drives.
The Swachh Bharat Committee consisting of Dr.SrikantaLenka, Chairman; Dr.(Mrs.) Supriya Priyadarsani, Convener and Dr. Rahul Tripathi, Dr.Mathew S Baite, JP Bishen, Arabinda Jena, A.K.Nayak, B.Pradhan, Arabinda Mahanty, S.K.Mohapatra, Mrs.M.Meena, Mrs.Baneeta Mishra as Members and Mr. CP Murmu as Member Secretary in association with the Estate Management Section and Campus Development Committee had a leading role in making the organization of Swachhta Pakhwada-2020 a grand success.
