NRRI Rice Varieties Dedicated to the Nation by Hon’ble Prime Minister
On August 11, 2024, Hon’ble Prime Minister dedicated 109 biofortified, high-yielding, and climate-resilient crop varieties to the nation as part of the Government of India’s plan to revitalize agriculture and enhance food security. Among these, three rice varieties developed by ICAR-NRRI namely, CR Dhan 108, CR Dhan 810, and CR Dhan 416 were released.
To mark the occasion, a celebratory programme was held under the chairmanship of Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack. The Director emphasized the importance of adopting climate-resilient practices and highlighted that these new rice varieties will boost farmers’ income and create new entrepreneurial opportunities. The event was attended by Head of Divisions, scientists, staff, and research students and other stakeholders. The event was also organized at ICAR-NRRI Regional Stations, KVKs and a total 134 number of farmers and farm-women were participated.
