ICAR-NRRI signed MoUs for the promotion of students’ training and quality postgraduate research h in cutting-edge areas
ICAR-National Rice Research Institute (NRRI), Cuttack, Odisha, took a significant step towards promoting students’ training, quality postgraduate research, entrepreneurship development and collaborative research in cutting-edge areas by signing two Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) on July 27, 2023. The MoUs were established with Sri Sri University (SSU), Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and Udaynath Autonomous College of Science & Technology (UNAC), Adaspur, Cuttack.
These MoUs mark the beginning of a collaborative effort between ICAR-NRRI and the two educational institutions, facilitating faculty and student exchange programs. This initiative will enable researchers and students to gain valuable exposure to diverse rice ecosystems and farming practices.
Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI highlighted the benefits of MoUs in terms of access and exposure of the undergraduate and post graduate students of both the institutes to the expertise and quality laboratory facilities available at NRRI, Cuttack. Further, he emphasized the signing of the MoU will facilitate the student exchange program wherein the registered students of both the institutes would be pursuing their dissertation work at NRRI, Cuttack. Additionally, Director also stressed on the formulation of the collaborative research proposal between the institutes for enhancing the research collaboration between the faculties of the institutes.
During the signing ceremony held at the ICAR-NRRI campus in Cuttack, the MoUs were signed by Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director of NRRI, Prof. (Dr.) D.P. Sahoo, Executive Registrar from Sri Sri University, and Prof. (Dr.) Santilata Sahoo, Head of the P.G. Department of Botany at U.N. (Auto.) College of Science & Technology, Adaspur, Cuttack. The event was attended by representatives from all three institutions, including Prof. (Dr.) S. Kumaraswamy, Professor & Dean from Sri Sri University, Bhubaneswar, and Dr. Krupasindhu Pradhan, IQAC Co-ordinator from U.N. (Auto.) College of Science & Technology, Adaspur, Cuttack, along with several distinguished individuals from NRRI, namely Dr. M.J. Baig, Dr. G.A.K. Kumar, Dr. S. Samantaray, and Dr. S.D. Mohapatra.
By fostering collaboration through these MoUs, ICAR-NRRI aims to enhance the academic and research capabilities of students and faculty members from all three institutions while preserving the essence of knowledge sharing and development in the field of rice research and agriculture. This partnership is expected to yield fruitful results in terms of advancing cutting-edge research and promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region and beyond.
