ICAR-NRRI Promotes Vermicomposting for Local Villagers Under ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa-2024

On 20th September 2024, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack, organized a visit to its Vermicompost Unit under the “Swachhata Hi Sewa-2024” initiative with the theme “Swabhav Swachhata – Sanskar Swachhata.” Local residents from nearby villages, including Kanheipur, Bhadimula, and Bana Bidyadharpur, participated in the event. Dr. S. Lenka, Chairman of the NRRI Vermicompost Unit, explained the vermicomposting process using paddy straw, crop residue, and cow dung. He encouraged the attendees to adopt vermicomposting at home for income generation. Dr. N.N. Jambhulkar, Co-Nodal Officer and other Institute Swachha Committee members were also present on this occasion. The event concluded with positive feedback from participants, who expressed interest in starting this activity.
