Cuttack to Export Aromatic Rice

A workshop was organized by ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack on 19 May, 2023 to discuss the possibility to export of Aromatic rice from Cuttack. After detailed deliberations, it was decided to launch a pilot project in 100 acres in Badamba and Narsinghpur. Shri Subrat Mani, Agroplus Production and Solution Pvt. Ltd., Nayagarh assured the farmers of Badamba 4S4R Farmer Producer Company Ltd., Badamba to buy the produce and export. In the beginning of the workshop Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack extended support to this pilot project through capacity building and breeder seed supply. Sj. Debi Prasad Mishra, Hon’ble MLA, Badamba and former Agriculture Minister, Government of Odisha expressed the need of promoting aromatic rice production in Badamba and Narsingpur. Dr. T. Mohapatra, Chairman, PPV&FRA guided the participants of the workshop for fruitful result. As a result, a plan of work was developing to execute the pilot project in Badamba and Narsingpur. The workshop was attended by Dr. Bhabani Shankar Chayani, Collector & District Magistrate, Cuttack; Shri Ambar Kar, Chief Development Agriculture Officer, Cuttack; Shri Hemanta Kumar Swain, Sub-Collector, Cuttack and Shri Kishore Chandra Mishra, President, Zilla Parishad, Cuttack, representatives from Agricultural Department, ATMA. Dr. B. Mondal, Head, SSD welcomed the participants while Dr. GA.K. Kumar, PI, ARORICE project proposed vote of thanks.
