Capacity Building Programme for farmers and farmwomen on “Improved Package of Practices for Scientific Cultivation of Rice” organized at ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack
A three-days capacity building programme on “Improved Package of Practices for Scientific Cultivation of Rice” has started at at ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack from 2 to 4 November 2023 for the farmers and farmwomen from the Deoghar District of Jharkhand. Altogether 27 farmers and farmwomen have registered for the training programme, sponsored by Social Welfare Organisation for Rural Development (SWORD) NGO, Deoghar, Jharkhand. The training aimed at strengthening the capacity of participants on various aspects of scientific rice cultivation, post-harvest processing & value addition and entrepreneurial opportunities in rice sector. In the inaugural session, Dr. B Mondal, Principal Scientist welcomed the participants to the institute and Dr. GAK Kumar, Head Social Science Division motivated the farmers to be curious in harnessing the advanced knowledge and technologies for their growth. The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack who extended the institute’s support to the rice farmers in strengthening their knowledge to bridge the gap between tradition and modern farming. Dr. Jaiprakash Bisen and Dr. Sudipta Paul are the Course Directors of this three-days training programme who are extending all the coordination support for the training.
