A “Training cum Exposure Visit of School Children” was conducted at ICAR-CRRI on 10.02.2025 

One-day training cum exposure visit was organized by ICAR-CRRI under the Scientific Social Responsibility head of the ANRF/SERB funded project on “Engineered mesoporous silica nanoparticle-biochar complex for decontamination of phosphate and glyphosate in water” and “Deciphering the resistance mechanism through leaf volatiles and wax components in rice against bacterial leaf blight disease” in collaboration with INAS-INYAS, Delhi and Cuttack Chapter, NAAS, Delhi. A total of one hundred forty-five students along with 10 teachers participated in the program: Eighty-two students from class-IX of Saraswati Sishu Vidhya Mandir, Potapokhari, Nuabazar, Cuttack, Odisha, Forty-nine students from class-IX of LR. DAV Public School, Cuttack, Odisha, and Fourteen students from class-IX of Bidyadharpur Girl’s High School, Cuttack, Odisha. The students were exposed to different facilities namely Oryza Museum of ICAR-CRRI, Biofertilizer Unit, Pesticide Residue Laboratory, Environmental Soil Science Laboratory, Open Top Chamber (OTC) in ICAR-NRRI field. An interactive session with student was organized and it was chaired by Dr. Amaresh Kumar Nayak, Director, ICAR-CRRI. Dr. Nayak briefed the students about the importance of agriculture in national food and nutritional security and encouraged the students to pursue agricultural research in the future. He suggested students to be an inquisitive learner. Dr. S Samantaray informed the students, with a special focus on female students, about the opportunities available to them in the field of agriculture and the career prospects they can explore. Dr Sushmita Munda gave a talk on career opportunities available to the students. Dr. Arup Mukherjee informed students to about ICAR-CRRI and motived students to pursue their career in STEM subject. The distinguished NAAS fellows, Associates and INYAS members interacted with students and it was highly enriching.
