Awareness and demonstration of NRRI-Tech Decomposer at Puri District

Benefits of adaptation and practice of NRRI- Tech Decomposer using rice straw was demonstrated to farming community at Maa Mati Agriculture Farm at Kothabad, Pipili of Puri District, Odisha under the project ଜୈବ-ପୋଷକ on 03.12.24. Advantages of NRRI-Tech Decomposer were explained to the farmers followed by practical demonstration of 1-ton rice straw which can be decomposed into around 450 kg of compost in a period of 45 days by application of cowdung (10kg), urea (5kg) & Tech Decomposer (1kg) which improves soil organic carbon; enhances plant nutrition & soil health for the next crop; a wealth from waste approach to improve farmers income. A total number of 50 farmers & farmwomen have participated and benefitted from this program. This program was coordinated by Scientists from ICAR-NRRI- Dr. Upendra Kumar, Senior Scientist and Principal Investigator of the project & Dr. P. Panneerselvam, Principal Scientist. This program was facilitated by project staff including Dr. Sai Krishna Repalli, Rashmita Rani Rath, Dilip Kumar Bhoi & Subrat Das under the project “Production, Popularization and Supply of Quality Bio-inoculants for Rice-based Cropping and Farming System of Odisha (ଜୈବ-ପୋଷକ)” an innovative project funded by Department of Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment (DAFE), Odisha.
