Awareness and demonstration of NRRI-liquid biofertilizer model at Gadaguatira of Puri district
ICAR-NRRI-liquid biofertilizer model was recommended to the farmers of Gadaguatira Village of Nimapada, Puri district on 10 August 2024 under the project “Production, Popularization and Supply of Quality Bio-inoculants for Rice-based Cropping and Farming System of Odisha (Bio-ପୋଷକ)” funded by Department of Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment (DAFE), Odisha. Dr. Upendra Kumar emphasized on the benefits and application of liquid biofertilizer NRRI-Endo N, Tech decomposer and Trichoderma in rice cropping system. Dr. Subhasis Bal, former consultant IRRI, Mr. Srikant Badhai, Block Technical officer of Nimapada and Mrs. Jhilia Sethi, Sarpanch participated and stressed on the need for switching over from chemical fertilizers to biofertilizers to protect the soil and environment without compromising the yield and parallelly decreasing the input costs on fertilizers. Around 60 farmers participated in this event and interacted with the project staffs Dr. Sai Krishna Repalli, Rashmita Rani Rath, Baishali Swain and Dilip Kumar Bhoi about the process of application of liquid biofertilizers. The event highlighted the importance of sustainable practices to protect the soil and environment while reducing fertilizer costs.
