Inauguration of Advanced Agricultural Facilities and Inspiring Student Engagement: Dr. H. Pathak’s Visit to ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack

Dr. H. Pathak, Hon’ble Secretary, DARE, and Director General, ICAR, visited ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack on 13 July 2024, marking a significant event for the institute. During his visit, he inaugurated the new underground irrigation system at the NRRI Farm and the Drone Training Centre, showcasing the institute’s commitment to advanced agricultural technologies. The underground irrigation system will enable precise water delivery, reducing waste and ensuring optimal crop growth, while the Drone Training Centre will equip researchers and students with the skills to utilize cutting-edge drone technology for various agricultural applications. Dr. Pathak also visited NRRI Agro Eco-Tourism site and participated in a plantation ceremony in the MKCG Auditorium premises, symbolizing growth and sustainability.
The occasion was graced with a welcome address by Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack, who expressed the institute’s gratitude for Dr. Pathak’s assistance and leadership. Dr. Pathak addressed the staff, highlighting the critical role of innovation and collaboration in achieving the institute’s objectives. He expressed joy over the new initiatives, technological advancements, and progress made. He encouraged the scientists to tackle emerging challenges in rice farming. His visit inspired and motivated the entire NRRI community, emphasizing the significance of their work in advancing agricultural research.
Furthermore, he interacted with undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. students of the IARI-Cuttack Hub, offering them insightful advice and motivation to seek creative answers to pressing agricultural challenges, as well as his outlook on the direction of agricultural research in India. The interaction was highly motivating for the students, as Dr. Pathak emphasized the critical role of young scientists in driving the next wave of advancements in agriculture.
