Achieving sustainable Development Goals through “Advanced Rice Based Production Technologies for NEH Region”

In order to achieve SDGs 1, 2, 12, 13 and 17, ICAR-NRRI organized a five-day training programmme on “Advanced Rice Based Production Technologies Suitable for NEH Region” organized at ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack from 15-19 January 2024. The programme sponsored by ICAR-ATARI VII, Umiam. Twenty KVK officials from NEH region participated in this training programme. The valedictory function of the training programme was held on 19th January, 2024 under the Chairmanship of Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack in the presence of Dr R. Bardoloi, Principal Scientist, ICAR-ATARI, Zone VII and Dr. G.A.K. Kumar, Head, Social Sciences Division, ICAR-NRRI. Dr. N.N. Jambhulkar welcomed all the dignitaries, participants and other audience of the function. Dr. G.A.K. Kumar briefed about the training programme and also requested the participants to replicate the 4S4R model in their respective districts. Dr. R. Bardoloi mentioned that, the knowledge gained by the participants in the training programme will be helpful in enhancing the rice production in their locality. Certificates were distributed to all the participants. Also one kilogram seed of climate smart rice variety developed by the institute were handed over to the participants for demonstration in their area. The strategic application of cutting-edge rice-based production technologies was emphasized by Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director of ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack, as a way to address regional issues, support the SDGs, and promote cooperation between NRRI, Cuttack, and the North-Eastern states for sustainable agricultural development. The partnership might seek to give North-Eastern state farmers access to cutting-edge technologies, better seeds, and contemporary farming methods in order to empower them. The programme was ended with vote of thanks by Dr. N.N. Jambhulkar, Course Director of the programme.
