Making women empowered and self-dependent through Baking Technology Entrepreneurship Development Programme

ICAR-NRRI successfully conducted an impactful 5-day Hands on Training Program on “Entrepreneurship Development in Baking Technology” for women empowerment from 9-16 January, 2024. Youth Sports Association in collaboration with UTTHAN sponsored the training programme. In the valedictory session Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack expressed his heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all the participants who actively engaged in this empowering journey. He continued by saying that empowering women via entrepreneurship and skill development is a crucial first step in promoting inclusivity and long-term economic success. Fifteen women who were carefully chosen from the lively Diwan Bazaar in the Cuttack region enthusiastically participated in the event, which aimed to empower prospective women entrepreneurs. These women had the necessary expertise and abilities to launch their own businesses, and they were motivated by the idea of opening their own bakeries. Post-training, they will be registered as a Self-Help Group (SHG) and will receive dedicated handholding support from NRRI to establish and run their enterprises successfully. This program supports women’s economic empowerment in the community and encourages entrepreneurship. The objective of this endeavour is to support regional economic development by developing local talent and encouraging self-sufficiency. Dr. M. Sivashankari, Scientist, Crop Production Division co-ordinated the programme.
