Union Minister of Agriculture, Hon Arjun Munda ji graced Kisan Samman Samaroh as Chief Guest

Shri Arjun Munda, Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Minister of Tribal Affairs, Govt of India graced Kisan Samman Samaraoh as chief guest. Hon’ble minister stressed that we are committed to PM’s vision of doubling farmers’ income (DFI). Minister praised the KVK for efficiently demonstrating different technologies. ICAR and university should systematically solve the problems faced by farmers who put in all effort to feed the country. Shri Arjun Munda ji expressed pleasure the Keonjhar is producing millets. He stressed to increase area under Bajra production and help in Sri Anna Yojana. He expressed concern that animal husbandry should be focussed to improve its status in the district. Minister was hopeful that the farmers will take advantage of various schemes of Indian Government and double their income. Later, Hon’ble minister felicitated Sri Syam Sunder Mahanta for natural farming, Sabooj Banani Women FPO for mushroom production and ten progressive farmers and farmwomen. Keonjhar MLA Sri Mohan Charan Manjhi also addressed the farmers on this occasion. Earlier, Dr SK Sahoo, Senior Scientist and PC, KVK, Keonjhar welcomed the minister and all the dignitaries. While Dr AK Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI highlighted the achievements of NRRI including 180 varieties, 4S$R model, ARORICE model for tribal farmers of Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Kandhamal and Kalahandi. Dr Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI V, informed about achievement related to soil health, mushroom, FPOs and other activities. Dr Prasanjeet Mishra, Dean of Extension, OUAT thanked the minister for visiting KVK, Keonjhar. He informed about OUAT and its contribution for farmers through training, demonstration, advisory services. More than 50 thousand farmers are being trained annually. OUAT is also working on family nutrition security. OUAT is also supporting all FPOs in production and marketing of the produce. Dr Lipsa Das proposed a vote of thanks to Hon’ble Minister. The programme was organized by KVK, Keonjhar and Coordinated by ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata; ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack; and OUAT, Bhubaneswar.
