International Yoga Day-2023

The 9th International Yoga Day (IYD) was celebrated on 21 June 2023 to safeguard the good health of the staff of the Institute. The basic objective was to promote “Yoga” as a way of life among the staff and students of the institute.
The session included Yoga, Pranayam, Aasan and Meditation following Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) issued by Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. Dr. S K Dash, Chairman, International Yoga Day Committee, briefed the yoga day program and theme of the program. He welcomed Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack and Yoga instructor and all the participants. Director of the Institute, Dr. A.K. Nayak, who himself is a trained Yoga expert and practitioner gave an introductory remark about the importance of Yoga and emphasized on including yoga and meditation in daily routine for healthy body and mind. The experts explained the intriguing details of every asana/pranayama and their importance towards leading a healthy disease-free lifestyle. Thereafter, the instructor led participants into series of yogasanas, pranayams and meditation that are beneficial in enhancing immunity and reduce stress and anxiety. Staff members of ICAR-NRRI actively participated in this program. Dr. Prashant K. Hanjagi coordinated the programme.
