78th Independence Day Celebrated

The 78th Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August 2024, with the theme “Viksit Bharat,” symbolizing India’s ambitious goal to become a developed nation by 2047. Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director of ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack led the celebrations by garlanding the statue of the great freedom fighters and hoisted the National Flag. In his address, Dr. Nayak honored the bravery and sacrifices of the freedom fighters who secured India’s independence. He emphasized the importance of upholding the values of unity, diversity, and progress, which are crucial for the nation’s continued growth. Dr. Nayak highlighted the significant role of ICAR-NRRI in Nation-building, particularly through its contributions to rice research and welfare of farmers and encouraged the scientists to develop cutting-edge technologies to combat the challenges posed by climate change and ensure food security for India’s growing population. The event was attended by scientists, technical, administrative and other staff members of the institute. The celebration served as a reminder of the institute’s commitment to contributing to India’s development and the collective responsibility to uphold the Nation’s values and aspirations.
