77th Independence Day Celebrated
The NRRI celebrated the 77th Independence Day at its main campus on 15th August 2023. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Nation First, Always First,” an integral part of the broader “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” Celebration. Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI garlanded the statue of the great freedom fighters and hoisted the National Flag. While addressing to the staff and school students, he remembered how our beloved country got its Independence from the British Raj. We honour the freedom fighters who fought bravely to make our country independent, giving us the wonderful gift of democracy. He further added that freedom comes with responsibilities. We must uphold the values of unity, diversity and progress that our nation stands for. The director said the institute is making a great impression in nation-building in the area of rice research and farmers’ welfare and at the same time urged the scientists to generate technologies to combat the adversities of the changing climatic situations and meet the challenges of feeding growing population in the future. The celebration was attended by scientists, technical, administrative and other staff of the institute.
