KVK Cuttack celebrated World Egg Day
Egg is a highly nutritious food in our daily life. It gives the highest quality of protein, good amount of good cholesterol, rich in iron, calcium, phosphorus, zinc and vitamins like A, D, B6, B12, choline and folic acid. The nine essential amino acids are present in egg protein along with 13 vitamins and minerals. The lutein and zeaxanthein helps to promote good eye health. Presence of antioxidants and essential fatty acids makes egg an excellent immune booster. To increase awareness about the role of egg in food and nutritional security, KVK Cuttack celebrated World Egg Day in one of the remotest part of Cuttack district, Kankali village of Tangi-Choudwar block. About 250 children, farmers, farmwomen and Panchayatiraj officials actively participated in this programme. Dr Ranjan Kumar Mohanta, KVK expert on animal sciences briefly described about the importance of egg in our daily life. Its necessity for small kids, school children and pregnant women was critically discussed with facts. An awareness quiz on egg was also held with distribution of prizes to the kids and ladies. Local leader Sri Dhruba Charan Sahoo welcomed the dignitaries, whereas Sri Debasish Jena proposed the vote of thanks. Officials from KVK Cuttack and local leader Sri Jagannath Mahanta helped in successful organization of the programme. Boiled eggs were distributed at the end to celebrate the day in the perfect manner.
