29th Research Advisory Committee (RAC) Meeting
The 29th Research Advisory Committee (RAC) Meeting of ICAR-NRRI was held on 29-30 January 2024 under the Chairmanship of Dr. T. Mohapatra, Chairperson, PPV&FRA, Govt. of India. The members present were Dr. Shashidhar H.E., Ex-professor, University of Agricultural Science, GKVK Campus, Bangalore; Dr. D.K. Sharma, Ex-Director, ICAR-CSSRI, Karnal; Dr. U.S. Singh, South Asia Advisor for Research & International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines; Dr. V. Chinnusamy, Joint-Director (Research), IARI, New Delhi; Dr. N.P. Singh, Member Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), Govt. of India; Dr. S.K. Pradhan, ADG (FFC), ICAR, New Delhi; Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack; Shri Pawan Kumar Sahu, Farmer Representative from Jharkhand; Shri Amareswar Mishra, Farmer Representative from Odisha and Dr. R.M. Sundaram, Director, IIRR, Hyderabad as special invitee. The Director of the institute presented a brief report of major accomplishments of the institute and Heads of Divisions presented detailed reports of achievements made in the last year. The Chairman of the RAC and other members appreciated the commendable works done by scientists of the Institute during the past year in terms of developing new varieties, climate-resilient technologies, patents, good quality publications in high-impact factor journals, development of new infrastructures, procurement of instruments/equipment and having a strong human resources of young scientists joining in recent years. The impact of NRRI on the food security of the country was highlighted by the Director and was greatly appreciated by the members of RAC. The RAC members emphasized utilizing new technologies in agriculture for translating research into products useful for the farming community. The RAC members also enlightened the scientists by suggesting new avenues of research for the sustainable development of the country. After completion of the meeting, members visited research laboratories and new initiatives of the institute and appreciated the progress.
