Training Programmefor Extension Personnel on ‘Scientific Advances in Sheep and Goat Production’
Keeping in view the interest of the grassroots level in-service personnel designated as ‘pranimitras’ and improve their efficiency, KVK Cuttack organized a five day skill development training programme at ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack during 09 – 13 July, 2018. Twenty five pranimitras and one official of Odisha Livelihood Mission from 24 gram panchayat of Badamba and Narasinghpur block of Cuttack District actively participated in this programme. In the inaugural session, Dr. AK Nayak, Director (I/C) and Sri SS Panda, AGM, NABARD inspired the participants.KVK team analyzed their needs, situations and expectations. Dr RK Mohanta, SMS (Animal Sc.), the trainingco-ordinator and experts from ICAR Institutes, KVK Jajpur, Dept. of Animal Husbandry, Govt. of Odisha, conducted theory and practical classes on balanced feeding, breeding, housing, vaccination and disease management, basics of ageing, traditional know how available for managing small ruminants in addition to basics of disease diagnosis. The queries and constraints faced by the trainees in field were also discussed by a panel of experts. In the valedictory programme on 13 July, 2018, DrHimanshu Pathak, Hon’ble Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack motivated the trainees to utilize their potential to improve small ruminant scenario in their respective panchayats. Dr K Barik, Chief District Veterinary Officer of Cuttack district advised conduct proper vaccination and deworming for benefitting the livestock owners.Dr GAK Kumar, Head, Social Science Division and Dr DR Sarangi, OIC, KVK Cuttack motivated the trainees. The training coordinator presented a brief report on the pre- and post-training performance and the activities undertaken during the training with 39.1% improvement in knowledge base.
