ICAR Sports Tournament for Eastern Zone 2019 (TEZ–2019) Inaugurated
The 5-days ICAR Sports Tournament for Eastern Zone 2019 (TEZ-2019) was inaugurated at ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack on 18th November, 2019 by Dr. Himanshu Pathak Chief Guest of the function and Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack. Dr. S.K. Srivastava, Director, ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (CIWA), Bhubaneswar and Shri A.K. Behera, Secretary, Orissa Kabaddi Association, Cuttack graced as Guests of Honour during the function. The tournament will continue till November 22, 2019. During the tournament, various events like High Jump, Long Jump, Athletics (100, 200, 400, 800 & 1500 mts.), 4×100 mts. Relay Race, Short Put, Javelin Throw, Discuss Throw, Basket Ball, Foot Ball, Volley Ball, Badminton, Carrom, Table Tennies, Chess, Cycle Race and Kabadi etc will be played.
The Chief Guest inaugurated with the hosting of ICAR Flag and igniting the Tournament Flame. He also released a booklet on ‘Organizing ICAR Sports Tournament: A Manual’. Later, the participants enjoyed the Odisha famous ‘Goti Pua’ dance and cultural programmes performed by school children. This meet was attended by 19 ICAR Institutes from 13 states located in the Eastern Zone States of India (namely, Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and all north-eastern states of India) and more than 500 players participated in the meet. The participating institutes include ICAR-CARI, Port Blair, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar, ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore, ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar, ICAR-CRIJAF, Barrackpore, ICAR-IIAB, Ranchi, ICAR-IINRG, Ranchi, ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar, ICAR-IVRI, Izatnagar, ICAR-NBAIM, Mau, ICAR-RCNEH, Umiam, ICAR-NIRJAFT, Kolkata, ICAR-NRC Litchi, Muzzafurpur, ICAR-NRC Mithun, Nagaland, ICAR-NRC Orchids, Sikkim, ICAR-NRC Pig, Guwahati, ICAR-RCER, Patna, ICAR-ATARI, Zone-III, Umiam and the host institute ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack.
At the outset, the Organizing Secretary of the meet Dr. Rabindra Kumar Sahu gave welcome address and at the end the Administrative Officer Shri Basanta Kumar Sahoo offered formal vote of thanks. Further, the closing ceremony of the above meet will be held on 22.11.2019 at 10.30 hrs in which Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR, Govt. of India New Delhi has consented to grace as the Chief Guest.
