A Model Training Course (MTC) on “Self-sufficient Sustainable Seed System for Rice: A Localized Solution for Seed Requirement” inaugurated by Dr. H. Pathak, Director on 2nd December, 2019 at ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack. Dr. Pathak in his presidential remarks emphasized that lacunae in formal seed system can be avoided through Self-sustaining participatory seed production by the farmers themselves. Earlier, Dr. Biswajit Mondal, Pr. Scientist and Course Director presented the trainees profile and briefed about the course and Dr. G.A.K. Kumar Head, Social Science Division elucidated the importance of Model Training Course in self-sustaining seed production system vis-à-vis social science research. Dr. B.N.Sadangi, Chief Guest in the inaugural programme invoked that for inclusive agricultural development, strengthening of seed production system is must sought perspective. A total of 20 participants from agricultural & allied departments and ICAR Institutes of 6 states are attending the course.
