Training on Climate-Resilient Paddy Production Held at ICAR-CRRI, Cuttack

A training programme on Paddy Production Technologies Adapted to Changing Climate was organized at ICAR-Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI), Cuttack, from March 18 to 20, 2025. Sponsored by NABARD, the programme aimed to equip farmers with knowledge on climate-resilient paddy cultivation practices. Dr. N.N. Jambhulkar served as the Course Director, guiding the sessions. A total of 25 farmers from Mallarpur, Birbhum, West Bengal, actively participated in the training, gaining insights into improved rice farming techniques to enhance productivity amid changing climatic conditions. In the valedictory session, Dr. A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-CRRI, Cuttack, presided over the function, with Dr. G.A.K. Kumar, Head, SSD, and Dr. B. Mondal, PS, SSD, also present. Dr. Nayak discussed with farmers regarding various advancements in rice cultivation. The conversation covered TL (Truthfully Labeled) seeds, which ensure quality and reliability for better yields. He also introduced institute-developed herbicide-tolerant and BPH (Brown Plant hopper) tolerant rice varieties, which help in pest and weed management. Additionally, the farmers were informed about aromatic and hybrid rice varieties that offer better market value and productivity. The discussion also emphasized the proper use of pesticides to ensure effective pest control while maintaining environmental and food safety standards. Certificates were distributed to all participants during the closing ceremony.
