Telecasting of Prime Ministers interaction programme at ICAR-NRRI on 28.09.2021

A programme was arranged to live telecast of the address of Honourable Prime Minister to the nation on September 28, 2021 at 11.00AM via video conferencing. Honourable Prime Minister dedicated 35 crop varieties to the nation, which has been developed by the National Agricultural Research System for sustainable agricultural production, inaugurated the new campus of “National Institute of Biotic Stress Management, Raipur”, awarded “Clean Green Campus Award” to the SAUs/institutesand addressed the farmers and scientists launching the “Mass Awareness Campaign for Large-Scale Dissemination of Climate Resilient Technologies and Methods “. A group of 60 farmers belongs to scheduled caste categories called on to the Institute andthe group attended the Prime Minister’s Programme. Director of the Institute, Dr. Dipankar Maiti welcomed the farmers and briefed them about Prime Minister’s vision and thought in respect of integrating past values to future development. Apart from the farmers, about 50 staff comprising Scientific, Technical, Administrative personnel were also joined the live telecast of the programme.
Before watching the live telecast, farmers were received at the Integrated farming system models area of the Institute for visiting rice-fish farming system and vermi-compost production facilities. A scientists-farmer’s interaction session on ‘climate resilient varieties, technologies and practices’was organized in whichdetailed account of Institute released varieties, production and protection technologies, the subject like diversification to high value horticulture, mushroom production, vermi-compost production, soil and water management technology, efficient use of nitrogen& other inputs, government schemes, etc. were deliberated by scientists from different disciplines. The farmers were also taken to “Oryza” Museum and research fields for awareness and first-hand knowledge of improved rice cultivation practices.
The SCSP Committee arranged the full programme under the supervision of Dr. B.C. Patra, Chairman and coordination of Dr. Biswajit Mondal, Nodal Officer.
