Spreading scientific temper through workshop on ‘ABC of Scientific Writing’
With the aim of inculcating temperament of proper scientific writing among the researchers, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Cuttack, a unit of ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack, organized two online workshops on “ABC of Scientific Writing” from July 22 to August 5 and August 18 to September 2, 2020 as a part of celebration of 75th years of existence of ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack. Out of 1691 registered for both the workshops, 1089 joined Google Classroom, representing 26 states and 205 institutions, ranging from graduate students to principal scientists from ICAR, CSIR, IISER, IITs and UGC affiliated premier institutions across the country. Online classes by experts from all over the country on several aspects (14) of scientific documentation were organized each followed by sessions on recapitulations (by voluntary participants) interaction, evaluation and providing links of further reading.
The valedictory session (2 September, 2020) was graced by Dr Gopal Krishna, Director-cum-Vice-Chancellor, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai as Chief guest and Dr H Pathak, Director, ICAR- NIASM, Baramati, as guest of honour. Dr D Maiti, Director (A) presided over the function. Dr GAK Kumar, Head, Social Science Division welcomed the guests and Smt. Sujata Sethy proposed the vote of thanks. Dr RK Mohanta, the organising secretary, and KVK team coordinated the program.
