NRRI scientists played a crucial role in the Nationwide COVID19 Vaccination Awareness Campaign launched by the Indian National Young Academy of Sciences (INYAS), New Delhi
Indian National Young Academy of Sciences (INYAS), New Delhi, launched a nationwide mass awareness campaign on Covid-19 vaccination on 6th April 2021. Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, was the Chief Guest and Prof. Chandrima Saha, President, Indian National Science Academy (INSA), was the guest of honor at the launching event.
This campaign is to increase awareness in light of the pressing need to carry out large-scale Covid19 vaccination in the country and manage the apprehensions against the vaccines in the common public.
INYAS took a multipronged approach to reach out to the mass. COVACNEWS, an android based mobile app made by INYAS for ensuring information at the fingertips. This app provides the latest scientific knowledge and removes misconceptions about Covid-19 and vaccines. The app will soon be available for download from Google Play Store.
Scientist from ICAR-NRRI, Dr. Kutubuddin Molla has played key role in the team for developing the app. Dr. Kutub is a newly selected member of INYAS.
A myth buster document on vaccines was also released in 11 languages, including Hindi and English. A Pan-India Infographic Video and Audio Competition (PIVAC) and GYANTEEKA webinar series are also parts of the campaign.
