ICAR-National Rice Research Institute (NRRI), Cuttack, Conducts Mega Vaccination Drive for Employees and Family Members

ICAR-NRRI has launched a mammoth exercise to vaccinate (with COVISHIELD) all its permanent and contractual employees and their family members with help of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation within the Institute campus. The list of people who are being vaccinated also includes students, field workers, and daily laborers being employed by the empanelled contractors. In the first two days, May 24 and 25, NRRI could vaccinate 437 people in the category of 18 to 44 years of age. On May 28, NRRI will administer another 280 jabs for the same age group which will also include Officers of State Agriculture Department of Cuttack.
Dr. Dipankar Maiti, the director, NRRI, said the Institute aims to conduct more vaccination days to cover everyone associated with NRRI.
Alongside the vaccination drive launched by Central and State govt., the NRRI vaccination drive is facilitating people to get vaccinated on campus. ‘Everybody is encouraging others to take their jabs, and it seems this drive is highly successful in removing any vaccine hesitancy.
From the start of the 2nd wave of Covid 19 outbreak, NRRI has taken exemplary efforts in supporting its employees by forming Covid Taskforce, repurposing an isolated portion of guest house to isolation center with basic medical facilities like oxygen cylinder, oximeter, etc., under the supervision of the Institute Medical Officer, and forming volunteer group for assisting anybody in the campus who gets infected with Covid19. Dr. JogeswarPani, the medical officer, NRRI, is at the forefront of this fight against Covid 19. NRRI believes, “No one is safe until everyone is safe” and committed to safeguarding all NRRI members. This vaccination drive also can help lowering the burden on the government.
